Droylsden Loft Stairs - DIY Pro-Starter Conversion

Space saving staircase positioning and design

The new stairs extend out from the landing, above the existing staircase and up to the loft. This space saving design creates a path from the ground floor to the second floor, encouraging continuity throughout the house.

Borrowing space from the existing staircase and bedroom was an effective solution. Building regulations require adequate stair height below the new staircase so they may be used easuly and safely.

The landing bannister extends to the frame of the new stairs which has been securely attached to the wall, floor joists and newel post. The plaster finish and wooden edging are ready for primer coat and decoration.
