Loft stairs and bannister with ballustrades

Loft stairs looking down on the first 90 degree turn kite-wind. A double kite wind staircase is used because there is not sufficient space for a straight flight of stairs. If a straight (prefabricated) flight had been installed then the head height at the top of the stairs would hove been insufficient and at the base the first stair would have been against the wall. An alternative option may have been to install an alternating staircase, however they are scary for children as they would naturally tend to descend backwards because they are very steep.
